All CAD design shall take place using Onshape.

All Documents shall be visible to the team at all times.

Master Document

The Master Document is the hub of all CAD design projects. It allows the Lead Designer to control the overall robot design, and organize and integrate subcomponents from a central location.

The Master Document should contain only Master Sketches, Packaging geometry, and a Master Assembly containing subassemblies inserted from other Documents.

Master Sketches

Master Sketches define the key geometric features, dimensions, and relationships for a design. In a top-down design workflow, they act as the blueprint for the entire robot, ensuring that all components align and integrate properly.

Master Sketches should be made to define:

• Field Elements
• Game Pieces
• Robot Limits (starting configuration, and overall limits)
• Basic Chassis (frame, wheels, bumper)
• Subsystem skeletons (joint locations, major structure dimensions, ranges of motion)
• Electrical components (locations of battery, power distribution hub, Rio)
• Any other Critical Geometry which is required in order for the robot to function properly

All subsystems must reference at least one Master Sketch. No part of the robot exists in Isolation. References should be made in a way that allows the sketch to control the location of the subsystem’s major components and dimensions. If the sketch is modified, the subsystem should automatically adjust without causing errors.
